Parent view of a recent bus location

A parent view of a recent bus location and an estimate.

When a recent vehicle location is on file, a parent view can show that location and an estimate for one assigned stop. The stop is the one assigned to that family’s rider. Another student’s stop is not on the page. If the location is old, the product labels it stale. This is not a finished physical driver-to-parent product.

What the estimate is

The estimate starts from a vehicle location the driver app has already sent. It is a description of that recent point and the assigned stop, not a promise that the bus will arrive at a clock time, and not a statement that a child is on board. The transportation office still works from the dispatcher board. Route review before publish, and a named substitute on a run that already has a bus, stay on the school transportation page.

A physical phone on a moving bus has not been accepted as a finished parent product. The parent page opens in a browser. Text alerts are not sent. An iPhone can open the page in Safari, and Safari location stops when the screen locks.

What a practice account is

Create practice account opens the existing practice form. That account is synthetic. It is not a live district activation, it does not start billing, and this page does not state a price. No child name is required to read this page.

Questions

What can a parent see?

A parent view can show a recent vehicle location and an estimate for one assigned stop when that location is on file. An old location is labeled stale.

Does the estimate mean the child boarded?

No. The estimate is not proof that the child boarded, and it is not a finished physical driver-to-parent product.
